The Northwest Resource Federal Credit Union Scholarship program is now accepting applications through March 31, 2012. Each year we award a $1,000 scholarship to a primary member who is working toward a degree at any accredited two- or four-year college or university. Print the application and complete details. Volunteer to Serve on the Board of Directors Credit Unions are not for profit cooperatives owned by their members, with a volunteer Board of Directors who oversee the operations. This unique philosophy is what sets your credit union apart from other kinds of financial institutions. If you’d like to be more involved with your credit union and have a strong desire to help Northwest Resource Federal Credit Union continue to succeed and grow, we encourage you to apply for a position on the Board. Elections will be held at our Annual Meeting in April and applications are being accepted through February 10, 2012. For more information and to apply, visit our Volunteer page or call Gail James at 503-220-2592, ext. 105. We now offer Private Student Loans. At Northwest Resource, we understand that college tuition, fees, and room and board can add up, but the college experience is worth every penny. With college costs rising dramatically every year, more and more families are wondering how they will be able to fund a college education without sacrificing their retirement savings and financial stability. That’s why we have partnered with CU Student HELP to offer the Smart Option Student Loan to help our members meet the rising cost of college. By offering the CU Student HELP Smart Option Loan, Northwest Resource can help our members pay for necessary college expenses including tuition, room and board, books, and even a computer while building a credit history. Designed to supplement a student’s federal student loans and other financial aid, the CU Student HELP Smart Option Loan can help students cover up to 100 percent of their education expenses. The CU Student HELP Smart Option Loan features market-leading interest rates that reward responsible borrowers as they pursue their graduate or undergraduate degrees. Also available are benefits such as an on-time payment reward and interest rate discounts for enrolling to make automatic payments. Visit our our Private Student Loan page for additional product details, an easy online application. Opt-In to Overdraft Protection Recent regulatory changes affect how overdrafts are handled, so we are asking you to take action and indicate your choice for the way overdrafts are handled on your Northwest Resource checking account. When there isn’t enough money in your account to cover a transaction, it causes an overdraft. In the past we paid it anyway, but now you need to tell us how to handle overdrafts. We can cover them in two different ways: • Transfer overdraft protection. We will make transfers from your Line of Credit, Visa Credit Card, or other savings account you designate at Northwest Resource when funds are available. There is a $3 fee for each transfer. Otherwise, the standard $25 overdraft fee applies
(see below). We will not authorize and pay overdrafts for ATM transactions or everyday debit card transactions unless you “Opt-In” to the Overdraft Protection Service with us by calling 503-220-2592 or by printing and returning the Overdraft Opt-In form. |
