Our Platinum Visa Credit Card features a photo of Portland’s Skidmore Fountain. We chose this historic and iconic fountain for our credit card design because of what it represents to our community. The fountain is Portland’s oldest piece of public art and it’s base is inscribed "Good citizens are the riches of a city”, a quote that fits well with the credit union philosophy of people helping people.

The fountain was completed in 1888 and is named after Stephen Skidmore, a local pharmacist and city commissioner who left $5,000 in his will for a fountain for men, horses, and dogs. Friends and family added to Skidmore’s donation and commissioned sculptor Olin Warner, who finished the fountain at a cost of $18,000. The fountain’s design boasts a bronze upper bowl supported by two granite female figures and a lower pool where people could fill their cups. At ground level, four stone watering troughs designed for dogs and horses alternate with stone steps. For nearly two decades, people drank from tin cups that hung from the lions' heads at the base of the fountain.
