Coming Soon: Enhanced Security to Online Banking

Northwest Resource is implementing an enhanced security feature to our Online Banking program that watches for uncharacteristic or unusual behavior regarding your account. This new feature is called Multifactor Authentication and helps to protect against online fraud by providing an additional authentication “factor” beyond your account number and password.

Beginning March 11, 2008 we will be gradually implementing Multi-Factor Authentication with a username and security phase. When you login to Online Banking after March 11, you will be required to set up a username to be used for logging into Online Banking for all future sessions. The username you choose will be used instead of your account number. The username must be:

• 8-15 characters in length
• Must start with a letter
• No special characters – letters and numbers only

Once your username has been established, the new security feature will begin collecting a normal pattern of behavior for you. For example, if you usually access your account from work in the morning and at night from home, this normal behavior pattern is acknowledged by the system.

After a period of collecting usage data, you will be asked to set up and answer 3 security questions. Then, if you ever access Online Banking under new conditions that are not considered to be part of your normal pattern of behavior, you will be asked to answer these security questions.
